Children's Literature for the Educator

Poetry  can be an expression of ideas, feeling, and emotions.  Often it has a musical quality, can increase enjoyment, develop an appreciation for language, and gain insight into our feelings.  

Different forms of poetry are: lyric, narrative, ballad, limerick, concrete, and Haiku.

Nursery Rhymes aid children in language development.  The repetition of phrases or words creates enjoyment for the child. Nursery Rhymes can encourage the child to join in on the reading.
